Year round offered gender measures

In order to meet the demand and interests of female SFB 754 members a questionnaire asking about their interests and expectations regarding gender related activities was developed. The information gathered in 2013 and 2016 build a good starting point for the development and adjustment of gender measures for the SFB 754 community.

  • mentoring for female postdoctoral researchers

A high emphasis of the SFB 754 equal opportunities efforts lies on supporting the further career development of female researchers who are pursuing their academic career after PhD. Offers are jointly developed for members of the SFB 754 and of the Future Ocean Cluster's Integrated Marine Postdocs Network.

Female postdoctoral researches of the SFB 754 can take part in the mentoring programme via:mento_oceanthat combines an individual mentoring relationship to an experienced senior scientist working in marine sciences with workshops and networking events.

  • workshops and trainings for female postdoctoral researchers

Workshops and trainings on key qualifications supporting a successful career development in science and academia offered under the framework of via:mento_ocean are open to all female postdoctoral researchers of the SFB 754. The course programme includes, for example, trainings on career planning, communication, conflict management, application practice or leadership.

  • coaching

All female professors, postdoctoral researchers, advanced PhD candidates and administrative staff members holding a doctor's degree/PhD can use individual career coaching opportunities.

  • gender awareness trainings and talks

In order to raise the overall awareness of gender gaps in marine sciences and to start a change process in everyday work we are offering all SFB 754 members gender competence trainings. Furthermore, these topcis are adressed by introductory expert presentations during SFB 754 retreats.
