SUBPROJECT - B1

A global model of redox-dependent biogeochemical cycles

A global biogeochemical ocean circulation model was developed to quantitatively investigate the processes by which oxygen levels can influence the marine nutrient and carbon cycles. The model helped to extrapolate results obtained from local process studies in other projects of the SFB 754 to global scales and longer time horizons, as well as put individual processes and feedbacks into a coherent picture.
