High-resolution modelling of physical-biogeochemical interactions in the tropical ocean

 

The high-resolution coupled ecosystem-circulation model hierarchy developed in the first phase is used to assess the roles of physical and biogeochemical processes in the evolution of the OMZs: we test hypotheses concerning the causes of the observed trends in the extent of tropical OMZs, explore the mechanisms relevant to their response to future changes in atmospheric forcing, and aid the interpretation of physical and biogeochemical observations in the eastern tropical Pacific and Atlantic Ocean.
