A global model of redox-dependent biogeochemical cycles


A three-dimensional coupled benthic-pelagic model of N, P, C, O, and Fe cycles is developed further, exploiting information from process studies of other SFB subprojects. Particular attention is given to a realistic description of oxygen-sensitive nitrogen-loss processes. The quality of the model is assessed and optimised by calibration against observed tracer distributions, making use of the computationally efficient Transport Matrix Method.
